Fillings, Crowns & Bridges

The team at New Minas Dental Centre offers a range of restorative options for patients with broken, cracked or missing teeth, including dental fillings, crowns, and bridges.

Bonded Fillings

Fillings are available for patients who have a cavity or a broken tooth.

What are composite fillings?

If you need a cavity filled, New Minas Dental Centre can use a strong composite resin which can be considered less noticable than a metal filling.

Bridges

If you are missing teeth and having trouble speaking or chewing, or are noticing strain when biting, bridges may be the ideal procedure to help make your mouth healthy again.

What are dental bridges?

Bridges literally “bridge” gaps between teeth by filling them with strong, natural-looking artificial teeth. Bridges are semi-permanent — they can only be removed by a dentist — and can strengthen your smile while feeling natural.

Crowns

Sometimes referred to as “dental caps,” we use crowns to improve the appearance and health of your smile.

What are dental crowns?

If you’re suffering from teeth that are chipped, discolored, or have decay or breakage, consider crowning those teeth as a way to get that strong, beautiful, and natural-looking smile that you want.

Why might I choose a crown for my restoration?

Crowns cover the entire tooth from the gum line up — so in essence, a crown becomes your new tooth surface because it completely envelopes it.

On the other hand, fillings, inlays, and onlays only cover or fill a portion of the tooth, so your natural tooth surface still shows alongside.

One similarity that crowns and fillings do have, however, is that many times they can be created from similar materials like porcelain, ceramic, or even gold alloy.
